Hosea is all about God calling the chosen to acknowledge their sin, to turn back towards God’s plan, to leave the idols. When we read through the whole of this book, we hear Hosea’s voice and life calling God’s people to BE God’s people—to turn from who they were becoming, and to trust in the God of their fathers, to look to God for their care, ultimately seeing that salvation is only from the Lord God Almighty.
Our God has been continually working for our good, even when we don’t see or understand God’s activity. We are called to become the children that God created—to turn from selfish ways which have strayed from God, to thank this Mighty One for the care showered on us, to praise the Lord our God for our salvation. Alleluia!
Holy One, help us to trust you in all we do today. Thank you for consistently calling us back into your plan. You are our only God and saviour! Amen. —
