Can you feel the exuberant faith pouring forth in these verses? They make me want to dance and sing.
There are many reasons we become isolated—illness, doubt, crises, to name a few. The psalmist has undergone trials and tribulations. The psalmist’s joy for the Lord’s help and intervention literally pours forth in gratitude.
Whether our isolation is brief or lengthy, the end of isolation is a cause for rejoicing. We re-enter with praising and thanking God. And what we re-enter is the community of God’s people.
Most of us have never danced and sung our way down the aisles of the church. But do you remember the gratitude we experienced when we were able to return to our churches following the isolation of the COVID pandemic? Do you remember other times when you have returned after an absence, be it long or short? To be able to return, to worship together, to come to the altar, is such a witness to the enduring steadfast love of God. Every day is a time of praise and thanksgiving.
Christ is risen. Alleluia!
We praise you, O God, for each day. We celebrate your Son, Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone. All praise to you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen. —
