Resurrection life

Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s the times, but I’ve noticed, with increased amusement, that as my family and I pass one milestone after another through the “senior” years, talk turns to death and the great beyond more frequently.
I have to assume, therefore, that we’ve all noted and agreed with Paul’s nineteenth verse. If Christ only came to make things perfect in this life, we’re going to be majorly disappointed and disillusioned. That perfection hasn’t arrived yet. But there’s more than just this life; Easter gives us something way more to look forward to, for all eternity!
But I think we need to reflect what else Easter does for us. Yes, there’s life beyond the grave, but that doesn’t mean we get to waste the new life we receive now. Through the gifts of the Spirit, we live that resurrected life every single day with God’s creation.
Verse 25 is the clue: Christ is going to deal with all the “enemies,” and that’s where we come in. Poverty, abuse, hatred, discrimination, wars, misplaced-power, sickness, homelessness will be dealt with. As the hands, voice, feet and body of Christ right now, we have work that’s been entrusted to us. New life has begun!

Christ is risen! Amen and Alleluia!
