Holy Week has begun, and for me it’s always been a week filled with questions for which we get very few logic-based answers, and often are left struggling to find faithful answers we don’t quite understand.
Paul wrote to the people in Corinth with a message of Jesus that seems foolish, especially to those who haven’t yet found faith. Faith is a difficult journey, often involving getting rid of cherished beliefs and comfortable traditions.
As one who always felt much “dumber” than my friends and family, I draw comfort from knowing we don’t have to be the smartest or most powerful to “get it.” God finds a way through our muddling, showing us grace through God’s great message of love and salvation.
This week, reflect on what you might have to adjust in order to see the difference between God’s wisdom and the world’s wisdom. The power in the message from the cross becomes the best Good News we’ll ever receive!
Here we are, Lord, ready to join you on this journey. Let us be bold to trust the questions, even when we feel foolish. Fill us with your wisdom on our way to the cross. Amen. —
