A knock at the door. Opening, we found a team of seven from the Bible school, waiting for us to provide supper. Problem—I had totally forgotten to tell my wife that they were coming. And we had no food for them. What were we to do? Well, my resourceful wife sent me out the back door and shortly I was back, laden with chicken from the fast-food outlet.
The disciples likewise wondered, “Where is food going to come from for this mob of people?” They were puzzled, but not Jesus, who proceeded to use the loaves and fish to feed more than five thousand people.
Most of us have no problem knowing where our next meal is coming from. The question? Will we care enough about the hungry of our city and our world that we give generously to Canadian Lutheran World Relief, Canadian Foodgrains Bank or other charities in order to seek to alleviate hunger?
