Failure is not trying

I’m not the first to say this: it’s scary to take risks for fear that we might fail. But failure isn’t the enemy. Not trying at all is the bigger challenge. If it doesn’t work out, take time to reflect with others and try again or try something different. In life, there will be failure. It would be helpful to cultivate a culture where we celebrate it, instead of avoiding it.
In this era of church life, reminding ourselves that failure isn’t a bad thing, gives us permission to live into what God is calling the church to be.
Rooted and grounded in the death and resurrection of Christ, we know that life comes even when all seems lost, surprising us and catching us off guard. Prepare the good soil, so that the seeds sown may grow. Not all will, but some will grow in unexpected ways. Thanks be to God!

Nurturing God, plant in us the seeds of your expansive love and inclusion so that we may grow together in your bold proclamation. Amen.
