The skyway bridge between Burlington and Hamilton offers a few different views. Look to one side and you might breathe out in exasperation. Look to the other side and you breathe deep in awe. The harbour side is filled with industry and smokestacks. The other side is the endless expanse of Lake Ontario. Yet another view is to look ahead. There you see the 2.5 km bridge that will carry you on a pathway forward through the awe and exasperation.
God sets us on a pathway of resurrected living. It meanders us through the complexities of the already and not yet of our life together. We catch glimpses of heartbreak and beauty in our own lives and the lives of others. On the pathway, God is forgiving sin so we may stay the course, run the race, walk the walk, speak the words of new life to those facing exasperation and even awe.
Gracious God, your mercy is great. You are slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. With gentleness, show us the error of our ways and the gospel of our ways, so we may be your resurrected people together. Amen. —
