I often feel that I don’t, or can’t, praise the Lord enough. I trust in what the Lord can do—execute justice, give food to the hungry, set the prisoners free (verse 7), just a few examples! But I am very unsure that I can or have the ability to praise the Lord enough for all that the Lord does. Do I sing praises to God enough?
I often think about what praising the Lord looks like, especially when I am deeply aware of the Lord’s presence in my life. Does it look like singing in church, does it look like loving others, does it look like honesty and integrity, does it look like attending worship, does it look like caring for our environment, does it look like living joyfully, does it look like trusting in the Lord’s mercies during difficult times, does it look like forgiveness, does it look like prayer…?
My life’s work IS praising the Lord. “I will praise the Lord as long as I live.”
May my life’s work be enough to show you, O Lord, that I am praising you all my life long. Amen. —
