Candles and fires in our fireplace were a special treat for me and often a time of family sharing and enjoyment. They helped me find peace and joy at this dark time of year. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to enjoy anything that produces any smoke for health reasons. This past Christmas, I was given a wonderful gift of three battery operated candles with flickering wicks. The light these candles make brings me joy.
As Christians, we have been called to be light to the world. The devotion themes this past week—obeying, finding God’s truth, doing good deeds, sharing, prayer and sharing peace—have highlighted some of actions we can take to be this light.
Light of the world, help us take the actions that bring your light to the world around us. Amen. —
