There are times, being a pastor, that I wonder if anyone is listening when I deliver the sermon. When I look out over the congregation and see their expressions, I get a good feeling if the message is resonating with them.
We read today that Wisdom has the same problem. She cries out in the squares and street corners, hoping the people hear her words. Finally, she proclaims that if they do not listen to what she says, she will ignore them when they call upon her.
But all words do not come from my mouth, they also come to you when reading scripture. The Word speaks to you. Are you listening! God has given us the Word so that we may live the life God would like us to live. These words should not be ignored; we should heed them and act accordingly.
Lord, we give you thanks for speaking to us through your words. Open our ears to hear you and move our hearts to take what we hear and use it in our lives. Amen. —
