They want to do what?

I remember the day my wife and I travelled to Calgary where we heard the news that she had cancer in her left ankle. Although it was 25 years ago, it feels like it was just yesterday. The doctors advised us they could treat Bernadine’s cancer in one of two ways.
The first was that they would try to remove the cancer from her ankle and hope they would be able to find all the cancer, or they could amputate her leg just below her knee cap. After much prayer and thought, we decided for her leg to be amputated in order to give her body the best chance of healing. The surgery went well and thanks be to God, I am blessed to still have my wife with me.
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus reached out to a Gentile woman, symbolising how his mercy and compassion are extended to all people. I believe the message for us is that Jesus came and comes for the broken, the sick, the outsider and the sinner at all times. God’s love and mercy know no bounds.

Lord, thank you that your love and mercy know no bounds. Help us to wait upon you. Amen.
