Finding our way back

In this topsy-turvy world of emotional and spiritual peaks and valleys, it’s easy to find yourself lost in the wilderness. There are many temptations thrown out at you: easy fixes for all your problems; causes to take up your time that aren’t necessarily good for you, or for your community. It’s a hard world out there and the chaos can be overwhelming.
Here is the good news! When you are feeling flummoxed, there is someone to whom you can always return. God! God has promised that you can always return to the Lord. God has promised that if you have been torn down by the world, God will heal you. God has promised that if you have been struck down, you will be bound up once again.
So, when the din of the world around you has gotten so loud that you can’t hear your own heartbeat, close your eyes and open your ears. Listen for the voice of God calling your name, leading you back down the path of peace and righteousness.

Almighty God, may we always hear you calling our names so that, even in times of trouble, we can find our way to you. Amen.
