Questions

The disciple asks “Lord, how is it that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?” This question is from one who does not understand. This is my question because I do not understand.
Jesus explains in so many ways but still I don’t understand. Jesus says he will ask his Father to send an advocate to those who love him. Advocate: helper, comforter, encourager. I still don’t understand, but I begin to feel the calming peace that Jesus is offering.
The disciples must have felt wretched that day, to hear Jesus say he was going away—again! Following Jesus does not come with guaranteed easy outcomes. The work of God in Jesus Christ is revealed in ways that astound and surprise us.
Jesus gives assurance that those who love him will recognize him. Jesus declares he has come to reveal the love of God to the world.
Maybe one day all the world will recognize that each person and all creation is precious in the eyes of the Lord. Maybe one day all the world will come to love and obey the commandments of the Lord. Then all will see.

Jesus, the living promise, you are present for us always. Lead us to love, to believe and to live for you only! Amen. — PAM
