Precious

First fruits in Greek, Roman and Christian traditions are usually the first agricultural produce of the harvest which were given to the priests to offer to God. Typically, the priesthood lived off these offerings; they were the primary income of the priesthood, and supported the priesthood and upkeep of the facilities of the place of worship. These offerings were an acknowledgement of God’s provision for God’s people. These first fruits gave the sustenance and maintenance for the most holy people of God.

God has chosen us as the first fruits. We are the sustenance and maintenance God has chosen to bless and use in this world. We are the first creation, the most sacred part of the harvest.

Upon us God spreads the Spirit. We are blessed.

Thank you, God, for acknowledging us as your special creation, to be set apart and honoured. Thank you for seeing us as precious and blessing us. Amen. — KNM
