It’s what I pray for

Since having children, seasoned parents would tell me that they will be all grown up in a blink of an eye. Well, I keep blinking my eyes and they’re still little! It’s taking a lot longer than a blink of an eye. It is taking forever.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining (much), it’s just that, well, they are still so very dependant and can’t seem to do much for themselves by themselves. And maybe they shouldn’t have to. Actually, I don’t think we’re created to be solo creatures, but we are made to live in community, among people and having loving relationships. This isn’t limited to parent/child or even romantic relationships, but among all people who long for and desire community.

God promises us this community among God’s people, among our brothers and sisters in Christ, among all those on whom we can lean and rely, for we are bound together by the Spirit, and we can support each other through the peace of Jesus Christ that has been promised to us. This isn’t just something that we must do or be out of obligation, it is who we are, our purpose, our very identity. God’s gift of the Spirit flows through us, around us and even in spite of us. Thanks be to God!

May the outpouring of your Spirit overflow our cups of blessing. Amen. — NF
