Dory, Te K?, and sisterly love

In my opinion, if you’ve seen a recent Disney movie, you’ve seen a great majority of them. It seems like the premise of their stories lately is around a protagonist and a problem, and the least likely solution to the problem turns out to be the actual solution to said problem. Maybe it’s a goofy and seemingly useless character, an antagonist, or something that is just not your typical solution, but the day is usually saved in a surprising way.

Don’t get me wrong, my kids will still be watching their movies (mostly because they don’t give me a choice in the matter). And it isn’t exactly a bad lesson to be had, in that the solution to our problems can be in places that we don’t typically look.

God is our refuge and strength, yes, but not always in the ways we hope or expect. Sometimes, the solution to our problems is found in surprising places. Sometimes, the peace we seek comes from within. Sometimes, God’s strength comes and smacks us upside our respective heads.

But that doesn’t mean that God isn’t with us, on our side, loving and supporting us in whatever it is we are going through.

How will you see God’s strength in your life today?

Holy God, may your strength be apparent this day and always. Amen. — NF
