We all know what Herod did when he had all the male children two years old and younger in Bethlehem killed. We look around the world and see many examples of what people do to reject Jesus Christ.
Today’s reading talks about money and what extremes people go to so that they can increase their riches.
I know of a family of nine who went to court after their last parent died. One of the brothers sued the other siblings for a mere twenty-five hundred dollars. This brother was very well off. It appears that the saying “the more you have, the more you want” is true in this case. I hope the brother had a change of heart and settled out of court with his siblings, otherwise he would be in danger of wandering away from his faith.
We all know how easy it is to fall into temptation. We must always be strong in our faith, praying daily for guidance and strength, so that we do not succumb to the many temptations that surround us.
Lord Jesus, be with us so that we do not fall into the many temptations that surround us each day. Amen. — AW
