"Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." Then he said, "Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." (verses 4-5)
From these verses, we know that Moses heard God calling him, and even though Moses was afraid, he listened, and he talked to God about the task he was being asked to do.
I was visiting my sister Glendora, who was very ill and trying to manage on her own, when I became aware that God was asking me to give her some words of encouragement. Her sight was failing and she was very weak. It was apparent she was looking forward to joining her husband who had died a short time before. God tapped me on the shoulder and said, she needs some hope. I had to ask myself, who am I to give her words of hope. All my life she had done that for me by her kind words and prayers for our family situations and our friends.
Knowing that you are in God’s presence is an awesome thing. To feel the power of God’s reassuring love even while having doubt or weakness is beyond comparison. God nudges and prompts us. Are we open to God’s call?
Lord, help me to be fully alive to your holy presence. Wrap your loving arms around me. Amen. — CL
