Wednesday August 28th, 2019 Acts 17:1-9
"This is the Messiah, Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you." (verse 3)
Sometimes our message of ministry gets lost in the doing of it. Genuine ministry is not what I am doing for you, but what Jesus is doing through me for you. There is a big difference between the two, and I would do well to remember it more often. Our mission as followers of Jesus is to spread the good news of Jesus to those who have not heard it, or to those who might have forgotten it.
So many people in our communities need to hear about the love of Jesus. They see no light in their lives. They might be lost in poverty, addiction or mental health challenges, or simply need to see some love and caring from someone?anyone. Jesus compels us to reach out in love to those who need help. Not in order to build up ourselves or our congregations, but simply because Jesus tells us to. We must lift up Jesus, not ourselves, in order to lift others up.
It might not be easy. There might be rejection and risk of danger, but we cannot let that stop us from proclaiming Jesus. Nothing else we do is as important as telling others about the one who sent us out into the mission field.
May we always remember to keep the message in the ministry. Amen. — LAC
