Monday July 1st, 2019 2 Chronicles 7:12-14
"?if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (verse 14)
This is God’s promise to God’s people. It is vital that we are obedient to God’s word. God came more than once to the people of the Old Testament to remind them that they would be forgiven and remade into God’s people if they would but be obedient. God goes on to tell them that if they faithfully follow God’s way, their land will be healed from the drought and lean growing seasons, and good harvests will come.
This past year in Canada, we have also had droughts, and food is not as abundant as it has been in the past. This passage makes it clear that it is vital that God’s people leave their old ways and pray to the Lord that our sins be forgiven and our land healed.
Gracious and loving God, please help us rethink our lives and spend more time praying to you and listening for your answers that we may be forgiven and our land healed. Amen. — EEMS
