Always giving thanks to God

Chaplains, psychologists and mental health care professionals will tell you that when you are in the middle of something, you cannot objectively see the edges of that something. From that first high school crush that makes you feel woozy to the worry of persistent unemployment to the profound grief we feel over the loss of a loved one, when we are in the middle of the struggles of life, they can seem never-ending and all-consuming. When we can finally verbalize our struggle, we can begin to see it objectively and move toward solutions and growth.

God uses many tools-pastors, doctors, friends, even random strangers-to walk with us through those struggles until our mourning turns again to dancing and joy.

In those times when life does not seem worth living, call out to God, remembering that God’s love and faithfulness are never far away. In hope, may we be that love and faithfulness for each other.

Thank you, God, that in our most desperate times, you are still with us. Amen. — ML
