The most important day of the year

Tomorrow is the most important day of the year. Easter worship should have the best attendance. The 40 days of Lent have been preparing us for it. The celebration of God’s victory over sin, death and the devil should last 50 days, indeed all 52 Sundays of the year.

Why? Because Christ is merely the first one to rise from the dead, never to die again. There are more to come. As at harvest, the first fruit is celebrated because it means more are coming.

Of course, the day before Easter, we see none of the celebration. We wait for it. We prepare for it. We look forward to it, because we know what is coming.

Dear Jesus, this is exciting. Waiting is exciting. Whether we are eight years old or 108, we don't know if we will be able to sleep tonight. Your victory over sin, death and the devil makes everything in our lives have meaning. Amen. — DAR
