Look to Jesus

Jesus is the pioneer of our faith. He gave us an example for us to follow. In the garden of Gethsemane, he prayed, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42) He entrusted his life into God’s hands, and when he died, with a loud voice, he spoke his faith, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” (Luke 23:46)

Jesus is the perfecter of our faith. We share the faith of Abraham, but Jesus made it complete through his life, death and resurrection. We need nothing further. Jesus has shown us everything about God that we need.

Now all we have to do is look to Jesus as we make our way through life. Don’t get distracted by temptations. Don’t get bogged down by the past. Don’t get discouraged by problems. Don’t give up. Keep your eye on Jesus. He will lead us home. He knows the way because he has already finished it.

Jesus, thank you for being the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. Help us follow you. Amen. — DAR
