Monday April 8th, 2019 Psalm 118:1-2,19-29
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD. (verse 26)
Growing old is not all about fun and games. At some point or another, everyone finds themselves in a position of difficulty, a place where we cannot manage some situation on our own. As much as we like to think of ourselves as totally independent, each one of us will find a time in life when we just can’t manage some situation on our own. It is in those times that we most welcome some type of help, which surprisingly, often may be from an unexpected source. A church member who calls around to see how we are making out during a power outage. A personal support worker who takes burdens off our shoulders. A perfect stranger who gives our car a push when we are stuck.
All these people may be unexpected blessings to our lives, and it is never harmful to bless them in return. The easiest way to bless them is to give them thanks and let them know they have been a blessing to us. For when we give thanks to those people who have assisted us in what may seem to be an impossible situation, it gives them encouragement to continue to be blessings to others as well.
Thank you, Lord, for those who are a blessing in my life. May I also be such a blessing to others today. Amen. — LGR
