Ambassadors for Christ

Our youngest son, Emmitt, was selected to be the Ambassador for the Walk for Muscular Dystrophy in Edmonton for 2018. He is so courageous in his fight to thrive while living with an aggressive, rare and terminal form of the disease. He is an inspiration. His joy with life, even when fatigue confines him to his wheelchair, is outstanding.

His experience made me think about what it means to be an ambassador. His role as walk ambassador was to inspire others and offer other families dealing with muscular dystrophy conviction that there is hope; life goes on even after this diagnosis.

God has given us the ministry of reconciliation so that we can become ambassadors for Christ. We are called to inspire others to love, and to offer the gift of hope and grace. How are you living as an ambassador of Christ? How are you using your life as a testimony to the faithfulness and grace of Christ? How are you inspiring others?

As our six-year-old told his four-year-old brother on the afternoon of the walk, “Smile, Emmitt, you are the Ambassador, you are the reason we are all here.” We are Ambassadors for Christ. Let that give us reason to smile.

Dear Lord, strengthen us and give us the courage and the joy to be ambassadors for Christ and living witnesses to your grace and love. Amen. — VB
