The above verse delivers a challenge. It is easy to love those who are pleasant and like-minded. I find this with my adult children. We agree on most things, and I honestly do not recall an instance when angry words were exchanged. I am happy to say my relationship with my grandchildren seems to be following the same pattern.
My husband and I have very different personalities, but we share the same morals and opinions on important issues. That has seen us through all these years.
It is not enough that I get along well with immediate family, am best friends with my sisters and enjoy spending time with my extended and church family.
The challenge is to reach out to those who are more difficult to love. I have not been tested. I hear about people who have been able to forgive those who have greatly harmed them or their loved ones. I am humbled. I don’t think I could do that and pray I won’t have to find out.
Guiding God, please lead me to see everyone as beloved brothers and sisters. Amen. — KB
