Thursday February 21st, 2019 Genesis 45:3-11,15
"And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life." (verse 5)
This account of Joseph and his brothers is a perfect example of how God can use a seemingly very negative situation for the greater good.
Joseph’s brothers were so jealous of his relationship with their father that they abandoned him to die. God had other plans. Joseph was rescued and, after many trials and tribulations, rose to a high position with the Pharaoh.
Joseph’s reaction to his brothers was not one of anger or a desire for revenge. He realized that this had been God’s plan all along-to place him in a position to keep his family from starvation. If Joseph had not been open to God’s plan, this would not have been possible.
Even if a situation seems hopeless, God might be working to turn it into something good.
God of hope, please help us to have complete faith when all seems hopeless. Amen. — KB
