?for the LORD watches over the way of the righteous?(verse 6)
Do you remember the secure feeling when you were a child and a loving parent watched you at play? Or think of your children or grandchildren playing contentedly, seemingly oblivious to your presence, yet paying close attention to your whereabouts? Security comes with loving care.
A few years ago, I travelled to Hawaii with a dear friend, Ellen. We would plan our nightly dining destination, then set out to enjoy a breathtaking stroll to our restaurant. Unable to manoeuvre along the sand, Ellen would walk on the sidewalk while I walked on a semi-parallel journey along the shoreline.
Having never been to Hawaii before, I savoured every moment of sand and waves mingling at my feet, gently tickling them. Periodically, I would catch Ellen looking my way and we would wave at each other. Though I was a grandmother already, I felt a bit like a child on those walks. Knowing Ellen was watching over me was surprisingly comforting.
How much more comforting it is to know that our loving God is watching over us! We are the righteous, Gods’ children. We can walk with confidence knowing we are never out of God’s sight or love.
Loving God, thank you that we can live securely, knowing that you watch over us. We are never alone. Amen. — KGT
