Love, Believe and Don’t Give Up

I have had the joy of directing handbells in various congregations for several decades. Every year, as I begin to recruit new ringers, I tell congregations that I am only looking for two things: the ability to tell pink from blue and the ability to count to four. One year, 89-year-old Phylis signed up to ring. Phylis had always dreamed of playing an instrument and worshipping God through music. Phylis, however, was shy, and had never even sung a hymn out loud in church before. She said it was time. She was almost 90, and if she did not step up and challenge her faith now, then when.

You have given me everything that I need, Lord, to live the life you have planned for me. Amen. — DR
