Wednesday January 9th, 2019 Jeremiah 31:7-14
Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance?I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. (verse 13)
How do you feel on a typical day? Do you wake up eager to face what’s coming, trusting that the day will be filled with good things? At the end of the day, do you experience untroubled sleep and wake up refreshed? Sadly, most of us would answer these questions with a resounding no.
Instead, our days are filled with burdens we don’t want to face and that are continually added to. At the end of each day, we struggle to have enough energy just to get ready for the next, and our troubles often follow us into the night
But God doesn’t want us to feel this way. God promises that our troubles won’t be forever; instead our mourning will be turned into gladness and our sorrow into joy.
God invites all of us, no matter our age, nationality, culture, financial bracket or anything else, to join in the great dance of life. God isn’t worried about our missteps; God just wants us to know the dance.
Dear Lord, help me to find the joy in life, to listen for life's music and rhythms, and to accept your invitation to join the dance. Amen. — DLG
