"To what then will I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like?" (verse 31)
What generation are you a part of and what is it known for? I am a millennial-a generation that is described as entitled and narcissistic but also confident and community-minded. Jesus compares the people of his day to children who are never satisfied. I wonder what Jesus would compare my generation to?
Whatever our age and generation, there are characteristics that all of us, as human beings, have in common. We are all made in the image of God and are loved unconditionally. Additionally, we all have a great desire for meaning and fulfillment; we want our lives to matter. This is a God-given desire-and something that can only be filled by knowing and being known by God. Thankfully, God is not hidden. God came to earth and lived among us so that we may know God.
In what ways is God being shown to you and inviting you to be fully known by God?
Lord, we were made to live in full communion with you. Help us to experience your love and grace and to know who you are more fully. Amen. — JL
