Journey to Joy: Seeing and Hearing

John the Baptizer is “more than a prophet” testifies Jesus and “? no one born of a woman is greater than John!” Why is he so great? Because he’s the fulfillment of the promise recorded by Malachi; John is the messenger sent to prepare the way for the Messiah! Jesus answers John’s question: “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?” saying, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news.”

Of John’s greatness Jesus adds: “Yet the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” That’s us! By the grace of God we’re the least! We’ve witnessed healings: the lepers, the deaf, the blind. We’ve seen such miracles. How? In the hearing of the good news proclaimed to us; we see by faith.

The foundation of our Journey to Joy is what we have seen and heard, the wondrous message that the child soon to be born, lived for us, died for us and rose again, so that we could be God’s “least,” God’s little ones. Rejoice!

Blessed are those who have not seen but believe. Thank you, Lord! Amen. — PH
