Thursday November 22nd, 2018 2 Samuel 23:1-7
Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire? (verse 5)
We have reflected quite a bit this week on suffering. Here, at the end of our week together, this passage serves as another reminder that no matter the trials or temptations we face in our world, God is present in it. No matter how hopeless things appear, there is new life yet to come.
God of wisdom, help us to understand and interpret your ancient words and stories for our current times and context so that they may be for us the means to bring about justice and peace for others. Amen. — PG
