"If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once." (verse 32)
What was your moment of glory? Was it when you won the hockey championship? When you landed the big role in the school play? When you secured that promotion at work? When your business finally took off? When you walked across the stage to receive your degree?
Was it when you visited the lonely widow? When you rolled up your sleeves at the soup kitchen? When you sat with the visitor at church? When you mentored that teenager? When you drove your neighbour to the doctor’s appointment? When you sat with someone who was dying?
What was your moment of glory?
God’s glory and human glory are two separate things. We human beings see glory in personal achievement. God sees glory in service, sacrifice and care for others.
When we serve and care for others, we mirror God’s love and care. Personal accomplishments are wonderful and fulfilling. Caring for others is beautiful and life-giving. Love and care are how God reveals Christ’s glory to us, and how we show God’s glory to the world.
What will be your moment of glory?
Glorious God, may we find our true glory in loving and serving others, as you love and care for us. Amen. — KP
