Give Me a Hand

I’m a Hebrew scriptures fan, but at first, this story challenged me, until I focused on the king’s request for healing prayer.

I, too, need a lot of prayer power, largely because I’ve found that Satan’s worst temptation is to stop believing in the power of redemption. Sadly, several years ago, such a lack of hope almost brought me to grief. After a long career in pastoral ministry and social work, I have seen too much of what is painfully wrong with this world. Yet God’s truth is that, even though we’ve gone a long way down the wrong road, it’s never too late to turn back. Sometimes, all it requires is for one of God’s people to take us by the hand and lead us home. I hope we’ll always put the power of healing prayer and helping hands at the top of our spiritual practices.

Holy Spirit, heal our hands, our hearts, our homes, our churches, our nation and our world, and restore us to your presence. In Jesus' name. Amen. — BB
