Tuesday August 14th, 2018 Isaiah 61:7-11
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my whole being shall exult in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness? (verse 10)
For me, this verse elicits an image of someone so overwhelmed with delight that their entire being vibrates with joy and gratitude. The magnitude of their gratitude demands expression and their joy feels contagious as they exult in the glorious thought of being clothed with salvation and covered with the robe of righteousness. No more are they bound by their past. They are saved from sin, guilt and shame. Clothed and covered. Protected. Safe from judgment.
And so are we.
What an awesome thought it is to know that we are “clothed with the garments of salvation” and “covered with the robe of righteousness”! We, too, have reason to rejoice as the writer of this verse does. We have reason to be filled with overwhelming gratitude and joy.
May we, this day, catch a glimpse of ourselves as we truly are in God’s sight.
God, give me a vision of myself as you see me, clothed with the garments of salvation, covered with the robe of righteousness. Help me to embrace my relationship with you and become aware of your constant presence with and love for me. Amen. — KGT
