First came maps, then came GPS

I love to drive and have always been drawn to road trips. Early on, I would collect maps and hoard them in my glove compartment so that I was always prepared for that next adventure. Later, when I became a member of a local service organization, I slowly reduced my maps as I knew that this organization would map out my trips for me.

With advances in technology, retailers eventually began to sell GPS units and as the years went by, their prices began to drop. I resisted the urge to give them a try for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I loved to study and follow maps, and secondly, I had heard stories of people getting lost after following the GPS directions. I was pretty low on the faith scale!

And then, I bought a car that came equipped with GPS. Amazing technology wouldn’t you say? Absolutely! But, I still had my doubts. That is, until I left on a road trip without one of my trusted maps. I quickly discovered the beauty of GPS when in cities and towns with which I was unfamiliar. After three days on the road, I had moved up considerably on the faith scale.

You are the GPS in my life. My faith in you, Lord, remains unwavering. Amen. — DR
