Wednesday June 6th, 2018 2 Corinthians 3:1-6
You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all; and you show that you are a letter of Christ, prepared by us,...(verses 2-3)
We are a people of faith. People who study and read the stories of faith in our sacred texts. People who hear its message of hope, peace, love and justice for all. And we are also a people who have a living and breathing faith written on our hearts to share with the world.
This living faith allows the words on a page of sacred text to come alive in new and profound ways in our relationships. The Spirit of the living God encourages us to risk boldly, love freely and build longer tables not higher walls. Our living faith, written on our hearts, calls us beyond limitations and boundaries of fear and uncertainty. In many of Jesus’ teachings, he knew that telling us the answers in a book was not the only way to be faithful. Rather, he encouraged his followers to open themselves up to the possibilities of each new day, to see what the gospel has to show us in our active busy world.
Spirit of the living God, stir up in us an active and incarnate faith that speaks love to power in the world. Amen. — TLR
