How many times in your life have you had to climb a mountain? At one time or another, I’m sure we have all had a problem that we couldn’t fix ourselves, although we tried. We think we can solve problems, fix mistakes, get better from illnesses, and so on, all by ourselves. But eventually we realize we need help; we can’t do it alone. Even Jesus couldn’t choose his apostles alone. He went up a mountain and prayed. He needed to get rid of his earthly problems. He needed peace and quiet. He needed help, and through prayer, he received the help he asked for.
We need to remember this and not forget to climb our mountain and pray when we are faced with difficulties. One way we can do this is by being quiet in our home and listening to God speak to us though the words in the Bible.
Jesus didn’t try to fix his problem by himself; why do we think we can?
Gracious God, help us follow in Jesus' footsteps. Help us remember to climb a mountain and to pray. Amen. — BW
