A tip from a married man to single men: Always put the toilet seat down. ALWAYS. Then 10 or 15 years into the relationship, use the toilet right before bed and leave the seat up. Sometime in the middle of the night, she’ll get up to use the toilet and fall in. Then she’ll yell at you, but then spend the whole day reflecting on it and come to the realization that for your entire relationship, this is the first and only time the seat has ever been left up. And she’ll realize how good she actually has it. You’re welcome.*

Of course, I don’t condone starting a fight in this manner, but I found it funny how sometimes it takes a bad situation for us to recognize the good. Not just in marriage, mind you, but in our lives in general.

Where do we see the good that God has done in our lives? I know we recognize the bad, it seems to always stand out. But aside from that, where is the good? Let’s lift the good up and give thanks to God for all that God has done, even in the midst of bad times.

Good and generous God, we give you thanks and praise your name, for your love endures forever. Amen. — NF
