New Horizons

A few years ago, a local congregation made the tough decision to demolish their 150-year-old church. It was structurally unsafe and had to be fixed or demolished. It was a tough decision. What would happen to the congregation?

This congregation found a new place to worship weekly. A committee is designing a new building, fundraising is taking place and construction will begin next year on a new place of worship. This congregation is alive and committed to following the Lord!

Jesus is angry when he sees the temple being used as a place to peddle merchandise. He flips over tables and demands everyone to leave. He yells, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” His disciples are confused at what Jesus is saying. How can he raise it up in just three days?

A place of worship is sacred. We must show reverence. We, too, are sacred temples. Our minds and our bodies also belong to God. When we are deceitful and lie, our bodies become corrupt. God lives in each of us and Jesus died for our sins. We must always remember the gift God gave us.

Dear God, may love dwell within our hearts and make each of us holy. Amen. — JR
