So Abraham called that place "The LORD will provide"? (verse 14)
Last year, I was brought to tears and laughter by a gentleman who agreed to share his faith journey with the congregation during a church service. He admitted that speaking in public was not easy for him, and he would rather be driving a dump truck than standing behind a microphone.
He shared how he and his wife tried for many years to have children without any luck. However, they never gave up the idea that God wanted them to be parents and looked into adopting children that needed a home. It was then that God answered their prayers and they had five children in six years! The Lord provided the family they were longing for.
This gentleman gave thanks to his parents, his wife and his former Sunday school teachers for helping him develop his own personal relationship with God and believing that the Lord will always provide.
Abraham’s faith in God was so steadfast that he was willing to follow God’s instructions and sacrifice his only son Isaac. He didn’t ask questions or refuse God’s request. When Isaac asks where the lamb is for the burnt offering, Abraham simply responds that the Lord will provide. Abraham’s faith in God is one to admire.
Loving God, we thank you for providing us with love, guidance and comfort. Amen. — JR
