We Have All Been Called

In our reading from Luke, we see Jesus praying, then choosing his disciples. But he doesn’t stop there: people are being called every day to become apostles to Christ. Every day people are being called to be those who spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

So why is it so difficult for us to spread the good news? I have preached many times the importance of sharing God’s words, yet, people tend not to be able to actually do it. Some say, “Well, Pastor, isn’t that your job? I do not have the knowledge.”

My response is that yes, it is my job, but it is your job also. We are all called by God to do it. It doesn’t mean you need quote scripture all the time or even talk about God all the time. We can share the good news of Christ through our actions toward others, or through the choices we make.

Having trust and faith in our Lord, knowing that God will always be with us, will give us the strength and courage we need to spread Jesus’ love every day.

Loving God, you call us to be apostles. Give us the knowledge and courage to go forth and spread your love. Amen. — RW
