I have heard many stories in which people tell me that they thought what they wanted to do or to be was an impossibility. One student, who was trying to determine what career path he should take, wondered, “Do I want to become a lawyer or should I pick up a trade?” He found it impossible to decide. This is a dilemma for many students. Some find it impossible to decide and need someone to guide them with their decision.
I can remember having similar thoughts when I heard God’s call to go to seminary: I could never do it-especially at my age! However, it was through prayer and the belief that God does listen and that God will provide, that I made the decision to attend seminary. And God helped me through.
Abraham trusted that he would become the father of many nations, because he had the faith to believe that if God wanted this, God would make it happen. And sure enough, it did.
Faith is the remedy to the seemingly impossible. Faith gives us the courage and the knowledge to move beyond the impossible to the possible.
Gracious God, we give you thanks for giving us faith in you to help us during times when things seem impossible. Amen. — RW
