Monday February 19th, 2018 Daniel 9:1-14
Then I turned to the Lord God, to seek an answer by prayer and supplication with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. (verse 3)
I begin each day of serving God’s people here in our little community of New Denmark turned to God in prayer, asking for God’s guidance and support. This morning ritual is important to me for it prepares me for my day by asking the Lord to accompany me in my ministry.
Daniel gives us a good example of this in our text. Daniel asks God for forgiveness for all the sins that were committed by the people. Daniel shows us that we do not need to wait until Sunday morning at church to ask for God’s forgiveness, but we can turn to God anytime.
We all need to know and trust that God will listen to our prayers anytime and anywhere, and that through God’s grace will forgive those who come asking for forgiveness.
Merciful God, we give you thanks for listening to our prayers and by your grace, forgiving us of all our sins. Amen. — RW
