God’s Peace

What do we mean by peace? The thesaurus tells us that there are many words we can use to describe peace. The most important one, as I see it, is tranquility or sincere calmness. This is not easy to come by. We can make strides toward obtaining this tranquility by daily Bible reading and prayer.

But for some people, finding peace is so very hard. Take for example some of our discharged Canadian Forces personnel who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), who at times cannot even concentrate on what food is in front of them at meal times, let alone spend time reading the Bible and praying. To add to their stress, their pension is such that they cannot even pay all their bills.

We can do our part to help by praying daily for all those who suffer from PTSD or any other disease, trusting that God’s peace will come to them because of our prayers.

Gracious God, please be with the men and women who have been discharged from the Canadian Forces and are in need of peace. Grant them peace. Amen. — ES
