Friday December 22nd, 2017 Psalm 89:1-4,19-26
I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. (verse 2)
Loyalty is not what it used to be. Employees cannot assume that employers will take care of them. Websites capitalize on people wanting to have affairs behind their spouse’s back. Even retail loyalty programs all come with conditions and a catch.
God’s loyalty, or faithfulness, to God’s creation is above and beyond what we can even imagine. There are no conditions or catches with God’s loyalty program, because it is all about God being loyal and faithful to us. God is committed to being with us and to working for our well-being, regardless of what we do.
We have all experienced disloyalty to one degree or another. We ourselves have also failed to be faithful to others and to God. What joy, then, that God is our immovable rock, coming to us in the darkest night with steadfast love and light, forever loyal.
Thank you, God, for always being here for us in our need and for never abandoning us. Amen. — KDH
