Come to Me

Searching the scriptures isn’t how we find Christ; they are a reflection of his life and teaching, but he doesn’t live in a book. Christ lives in the world, and our lives in faith are lived out in the world.

Scripture informs us, but its value is in how we use what we learn. We need to come to Christ; to act.

Christianity has so many views where scripture feels like a weapon, or a contest of who can bounce about the Bible with speed and conviction. The result has been rejection of the faith by many.

Today, Jesus reminds us that the inspired Word of God is to inspire us to live, not to keep our heads buried in the sacred text. We are invited: “Come to me.”

What are we waiting for? Let’s go! Into the world, inspired and living our gospel story in the here and now!

God of relationship, we give you thanks for your Word, and pray that it moves our hearts, our minds, our hands and our feet to live as you invite us to. Amen. — SP
