Tuesday October 10th, 2017 Song of Solomon 8:5-14
Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, passion fierce as the grave. (verse 6)
Currently, I have the tremendous blessing of helping my dad care for my mom. Watching him is a beautiful example of selfless love.
One night, when she was uncomfortable and memories were fading, Mom asked the heart-wrenching question, “How could you love me?” A woman of lifelong beauty, dignity and grace didn’t want her health to be a burden to her family. This statement brought immediate tears and then a powerful assurance of the powerful love that she had showed everyone her whole life by example.
Isn’t it amazing that God’s love is sealed by grace upon our hearts in miraculous ways that cannot be earned and are often beyond our capacity to understand?
God of love, guide us to open our hearts to love by your example, with wisdom, patience, kindness and compassion. Amen. — LMB
