?but my salvation will be forever, and my deliverance will never be ended. (verse 6)
We all make promises. Sometimes we make promises to ourselves and sometimes to other people. Although we usually make these promises with the best of intentions, we are not always able to keep them. Circumstances change, jobs, schedules, health, finances and family can all cause us to be unable to keep a promise. Sometimes we simply forget our promise. We are all human and cannot promise anything forever.
In today’s scripture God is making a very special promise. God is promising that the gift of salvation will last forever. Forever. Think about what that means. God says, “the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment,” (verse 6) and yet God’s salvation is forever. It will always be available to us even when the uncertain earthly things are gone. Pretty amazing promise!
God who is eternal, thank you for the promise of eternal salvation, especially as we live in this uncertain world. Amen. — KIGN
